Longmont does not ban leaf blowers, but LMC § 10.20.110(D)(3) restricts homeowner power equipment — including leaf blowers — to the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and requires equipment mufflers to be in good working condition.
LMC § 10.20.110(D)(3) — 'Homeowners' outdoor equipment' — states: 'No person shall operate engine or motor-powered lawn or maintenance tools intended for use in residential areas such as power mowers, leaf blowers, garden tools, riding tractors, power saws, edgers, and similar equipment that would create a noise that exceeds the fixed source standards stated above, except between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.' Subsection (ii) requires applicable mufflers to be kept in good working condition. Subsection (iii) exempts snow blowers and snowplows from the time restriction when needed for ice/snow removal. During allowed hours, leaf blower noise still must not exceed the daytime fixed-source ceiling of 55 dB(A) (residential), 65 dB(A) (commercial), or 75 dB(A) (industrial) measured 25 feet from the source under § 10.20.110(B).
