Salem Revised Code 93.005(a) defines domestic power equipment to include 'power blowers,' lawn mowers, garden equipment and other yard tools, and SRC 93.020(c) prohibits operating them between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Marion County's code (MCC 8.45.020) treats domestic power tools, lawn mowers and garden equipment as sound-producing devices restricted 'only between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.' Within the Salem-Keizer UGB, MCC 8.45.060(E)(3)(b) exempts daytime power-equipment sound from the decibel table but bars nighttime operation that is plainly audible next door. There is no daytime leaf-blower ban.
Nighttime power-equipment use is an infraction in Salem and a Class A violation in unincorporated Marion County. No permit or gas/electric restriction applies.
