Prince William County has no leaf-blower-specific ban or hour rule. Powered lawn equipment must simply stay within the Chapter 14 decibel limits at the property line (60 dBA daytime, 55 dBA nighttime in residential zones), which effectively confines noisy blowers to daytime hours.
Unlike the prior draft ordinance, the re-enacted Chapter 14 contains no standalone power-lawn-equipment hour restriction. A leaf blower is therefore governed by the general maximum permissible sound levels in § 14-4: at a residential property boundary noise may not exceed 60 dBA daytime (7 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays) or 55 dBA nighttime. Gas blowers commonly exceed the nighttime cap, so practical use is limited to daytime. Individual incorporated towns or HOAs within the county may impose tighter equipment or hour restrictions.
Exceeding the § 14-4 decibel limits is a Class 4 misdemeanor (first offense) or Class 3 for a repeat within 365 days; a civil penalty up to $250/$500 may apply in lieu.
