Quiet hours in Lee County, FL — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
In unincorporated Lee County, residential noise may not exceed 66 dBA from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., dropping to 55 dBA from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., measured at the receiving property line. Incorporated cities set their own rules.
The Lee County Noise Control Ordinance (Ch. 24¼, Ord. 14-18) applies only to unincorporated areas. Table 1 caps residential, public-space and agricultural land at 66 dBA during the day (7 a.m.–10 p.m.) and 55 dBA overnight (10 p.m.–7 a.m.). A measurement must be at least 5 dB above the ambient level to count. If a sound-level meter is unavailable, the Sheriff's Office may instead find a prohibited 'noise disturbance' based on volume, time of day, duration and proximity to sleeping areas. Cities like Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Bonita Springs set their own quiet hours.
Second-degree misdemeanor: fine up to $500 or up to 60 days in county jail. Each occurrence is a separate offense, enforced by the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
