Quiet hours in Seminole County, FL — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Seminole County's noise ordinance (Chapter 165) sets 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. as the protected nighttime window in residential zones for lawn equipment, power tools, loading, and vehicle repair. A general noise-disturbance ban applies at all hours countywide.
Chapter 165 covers all of Seminole County, including incorporated areas, unless a municipality provides otherwise. Sec. 165.21 broadly prohibits any 'noise disturbance' at any time. Several specific activities are barred in a residential zone (or within 500 feet) between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.: lawn maintenance equipment (165.23), power tools (165.24), loading/unpacking (165.26), and vehicle repair (165.28). Enforcement is complaint-driven; an officer whose hearing deviates no more than 20 dB from normal determines whether an impermissible noise exists (165.11).
Violations are punishable under Sec. 1.8, Seminole County Code; each day a violation continues is a separate offense (165.61). The county may also seek injunctive relief (165.62).
