Quiet hours in Lake County, FL — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Unincorporated Lake County bans excessive noise audible to neighbors at any hour, judged by level, duration, zoning and time of day. There is no fixed nighttime curfew clock, but nighttime and sleeping-hour noise weighs heaviest. Cities like Clermont set their own rules.
The Lake County Noise Control Ordinance (Code Ch. 14, Art. II) prohibits any excessive noise audible to persons in unincorporated areas. Rather than a hard quiet-hours clock, the county uses a reasonableness test. Sec. 14-34 lists factors: the noise level, natural vs. unnatural origin, zoning of the source and receiving area, proximity to sleeping facilities, time of day or night, duration, and whether it is recurrent, intermittent or constant. Noise near bedrooms late at night is far more likely to be cited than the same sound at midday. Specific clock limits apply only to construction (7pm-7am) and vehicular refrigeration units (9pm-6am).
Initial Sec. 14-34 civil citation: reduced $150 if uncontested; repeat $300; court may impose up to $500. Criminal prosecution up to $500 fine or 60 days jail after a prior warning.
