Quiet hours in Spokane County, WA — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Unincorporated Spokane County regulates noise under SCC Chapter 6.12. Amplified sound and other repetitive noise that disturbs a reasonable person is prohibited, and Washington's WAC 173-60 environmental limits drop 10 dBA at night (10 p.m.-7 a.m.) in residential areas.
There is no single county-wide numeric curfew, but two rules combine. SCC 6.12 makes it unlawful to allow sound that annoys or disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensitivity from residential property. Statewide WAC 173-60-040 caps noise crossing into a residence (Class A EDNA) at 55 dBA daytime, reduced by 10 dBA to 45 dBA between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Construction is exempted 7 a.m.-10 p.m. only. Incorporated cities (Spokane, Spokane Valley) set their own quiet hours.
SCC 6.12 violations are enforced by the Spokane County Sheriff as a noise disturbance; WAC 173-60 nuisance noise is enforced via the county and Ecology. Report to Crime Check (509) 456-2233.
