Muskegon County, MI Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

The county's overnight quiet-hours rule lives inside the camping chapter of the Muskegon County Parks Ordinance, adopted June 14, 2022. m. park curfew that governs day guests (Section 6(1)(n)), and each camping party must register a member responsible for the conduct of the whole group and its visitors (Section 6(2)). Because the quiet-hours language is written into the camping section specifically, it applies to Muskegon County's campgrounds; conduct elsewhere in a county park that disturbs neighbors at any hour falls instead under the separate 'disturb the peace and quiet or good order of a park area' language in Section 9(1)(b), which is not tied to a clock.

Muskegon County Parks and Recreation staff and Muskegon County Sheriff's Office deputies enforce both provisions under the enforcement authority in Sections 1 and 21. A camper cited for violating quiet hours faces the ordinance's general penalty in Section 20, and repeated disruption can also cost the offending party its camping permit and site under the Director's authority to expel a violator.
