Item (13) bars "operating a grill or performing open flame cooking on the turf, or over fire pits located within the plaza," a rule aimed squarely at protecting the square's artificial turf surface and its built-in fire pit feature from grease, ash and flame damage rather than banning cooking devices village-wide.
