Jackson County, GA Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Sec. 32-119 addresses abandoned motor vehicles in the solid waste chapter. § 40-1-1 et seq. The county adds two of its own bans: no junk or abandoned vehicle may be parked or left standing on public property or within 20 feet of a county or state road anywhere in the county, and no person may maintain or keep a junk vehicle on property adjoining or abutting a public road, street, or other public property within the unincorporated county if it is visible from that road, street, way, or property.

A separate clause bars disposing of a junk vehicle or an abandoned vehicle in or at any sanitary landfill. Sec. 32-119(e) makes clear these county rules are not exclusive of state law but supplement any other regulations and regulatory codes of the state or county, so a violation can implicate both local enforcement and the state abandoned-vehicle statutes at the same time. Because Division 4 does not set out its own fine schedule, enforcement of these provisions runs through the same citation and prosecution process, and the same general penalty, that governs the rest of the solid waste chapter.
