Mahwah Code Section 3-3.1 prohibits parking, leaving, or storing any inoperable motor vehicle on public lands or premises except in an emergency, and even then for no more than 48 hours.
Under Section 3-3.1 in Chapter 3 (Police Regulations) of the Mahwah Code, no person may park, leave, or store an inoperable motor vehicle on any public lands or premises in the Township. The only exception is during an emergency, and the inoperable vehicle still cannot remain longer than 48 hours. The rule is enforced by the Mahwah Police Department, which may issue summonses and arrange for towing under New Jersey abandoned vehicle procedures.
Inoperable vehicles left on Township streets, parks, or other public property beyond 48 hours can be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
