Brunswick County, NC Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Brunswick County's Unified Development Ordinance addresses commercial-vehicle parking connected to residential property through its home occupation standards rather than a freestanding commercial-parking chapter. A bars any external evidence of a home-based business, expressly listing commercial vehicles alongside window displays, outside storage, smoke, noise and odors as evidence that cannot be emitted or visible from the premises. C then sets the operative limit: traffic and parking tied to the home occupation cannot be detrimental to the neighborhood or create street congestion, ordinary passenger vehicles are allowed in connection with the business, but only one commercially licensed vehicle is permitted and it cannot exceed 1-ton capacity.

Read together, a resident operating a home occupation in the unincorporated county may keep a single work truck or van at the property, so long as it is not over a 1-ton rating and does not sit as visible commercial signage or equipment on the lot.
