Stanislaus County, CA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

090 of the Stanislaus County Code prohibits parking or leaving standing any commercial vehicle, as defined by the California Vehicle Code, on a street within a residential district of the unincorporated county if the vehicle's manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating is 10,000 pounds or more. 5, which lets counties restrict heavy commercial vehicle parking in residential zones without the street-by-street signage process used for the county's other parking ordinances. Two narrow exceptions apply: a truck may make a temporary stop to pick up or deliver goods, wares or merchandise at a building on the restricted street, and a truck may deliver materials for the 'actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction' of a building on that street, but only if a building permit for that work has already been obtained.

Neither exception covers overnight parking, staging, or storage of the vehicle between work trips, a big rig parked on a residential street overnight with no active delivery or permitted job in progress is a violation regardless of how briefly it stayed the night before. Residential districts follow the county's own zoning designations, so the rule tracks the zoning map rather than a specific list of streets. Because Title 11 applies only in the unincorporated area, truckers working inside Modesto, Turlock, Ceres or the county's other cities are subject to each city's separate heavy-vehicle parking ordinance instead of this county section.
