Houston County, GA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Article III of Chapter 62 (Truck Traffic and Truck Parking) defines a 'truck' in Sec. 62-51 as any vehicle used for hauling or carrying a load with an overall length over 30 feet and more than six wheels, specifically including tractors pulling trailers loaded or unloaded, and any vehicle exceeding the state weight limit for county roads. Sec. 62-53, Prohibition on travel in residential subdivisions, bars any such truck from entering, traveling, or parking on a street in a residential subdivision, defined in Sec. 62-51 as an area with streets designed primarily for residential and accessory traffic that are platted and regulated under the county's subdivision regulations.

The only carve-out is for short-period daylight deliveries of goods to houses or points within the subdivision. A related rule, Sec. 62-52, separately bans through-truck travel on specific county roads listed in Sec. 62-56 (currently Bear Branch Road and Old Hawkinsville Road), each posted with 'No Through Trucks' signage. Both sections were adopted by amendment on July 5, 2023, for the stated purpose of promoting public health, safety and welfare by keeping trucks off residential subdivision streets and off certain designated roads.
