Henrico County, VA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 24-96 of the Zoning Ordinance sets the oversized-vehicle limit countywide. "Gross weight" is defined as the aggregate weight of a vehicle and the load it is designed to carry, as recorded by the state Division of Motor Vehicles. Any truck or commercial vehicle exceeding 10,000 pounds gross weight, along with any commercial enclosed or flatbed trailer or wrecker, may not be parked on a highway, street, or alley in an agricultural or residential zoning district except while actively loading or unloading. This keeps large box trucks, dump trucks, tractor units, and heavy work trailers out of residential neighborhoods, even if the trailer is empty at the time.
