Charlotte UDO Section 12.510 prohibits parking of any commercial vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating over 12,000 lbs in residential zones for more than 2 hours except during active loading, unloading, or emergency service. One commercial vehicle under 10,000 lbs GVWR (pickup, van, small box truck) may be parked overnight if owned and operated by a resident. Tractor-trailers, dump trucks, and construction equipment are prohibited in residential zones entirely. Unincorporated Mecklenburg applies similar 12,000 lb cutoff under County zoning.
