Volusia County, FL Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 72-287(a), rewritten by Ord. No. 2024-07 effective June 17, 2025, splits commercial-vehicle parking into two tiers by weight and district. Any truck tractor, semitrailer, commercial bus, cutaway van, chassis cab truck, or other commercial vehicle or truck with a gross vehicle weight over 26,001 pounds, measured by whichever is greater, the registration or the manufacturer's rating, is barred from parking in the R-1 through R-9, MH-1, MH-2, MH-4, MH-5, MH-6, and MH-7 classifications and the residential areas of PUD and SWR zoning, except while actively being loaded or unloaded for a legitimate commercial purpose.

Truck tractors and semitrailers are separately barred from the B-1 through B-4, B-8, B-9, B-PUD, and the commercial areas of R-PUD, SWC, SWR, and AP classifications unless the vehicle is accessory to a business actually operating on that property. In the more rural and agricultural classifications, MH-3, MH-4, MH-8, OTR, ORE, OCR, RR, RA, A-1 through A-4, FR, and RC, up to two commercial vehicles may be parked on a single parcel, but only if the occupant owns them, they carry a current license tag, the ground under them is kept free of debris and excessive weeds, they never sit in a street or right-of-way, and they stay out of the front yard, at least five feet from the side or rear property lines. with an approved right-of-way connection permit.
