Passaic County, NJ Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

' Three categories are carved out. First, a passenger car carrying commercial plates or markings is fine 'so long as same are not used for commercial purpose on the park premises', the plate alone doesn't trigger the rule, actual commercial activity does. Second, vans and pickup trucks with a cap are exempt outright, but only up to 'a maximum load capacity of one ton,' so a larger capped truck still needs written permission. Third, any commercial vehicle 'on business of the County', a County-contracted landscaper or a Parks & Recreation vendor, for instance, is exempt regardless of size.

Nothing in Section 30 sets a permit fee or application process; the text only requires that permission be obtained and be in writing before the vehicle enters. This section sits alongside Section 27's separate ban on servicing or repairing a motor vehicle anywhere on park premises (except emergency repairs) and Section 32's ban on covering vehicle windows while parked, together the ordinance's cluster of vehicle-specific rules for park drives. Enforcement is the same as the rest of Article II: the Passaic County Sheriff's Department and other peace officers under Article I, Section 1(c), with violations heard in the municipal court for the park's municipality.
