Beaufort County, SC Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

A (General Parking Standards) is the county's residential heavy-vehicle rule. It prohibits parking or storage of heavy trucks, defined as vehicles over 20,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, and trailers on any residential or storage lot in any zone, subject to two exceptions. First, semi-trailer trucks, their cabs or trailers, and other heavy trucks may be parked or stored on any residential lot within the T2 Rural district without the acreage limit that applies elsewhere. Second, in every other district one commercial truck or one semi-trailer cab may be parked on a residential lot of one acre or larger, provided private covenants and restrictions do not already forbid it.

3 layers on four conditions: the vehicle must sit in the rear or interior side setback behind the front of the building, garage, or carport; there must be a principal use on the property to which the storage is accessory; no living quarters can be maintained and no business run out of the parked vehicle; and the parcel must still carry its full required number of parking spaces in addition to the space used for storage. G, separately bars semitrailer trucks, construction vehicles, or commercial vehicles over three tons cargo or seven tons gross weight from residential lots or streets in the C3 zone, any transect zone except T2, or a Community Preservation District, unless specifically permitted in Appendix A.
