Summary
Unincorporated Lake County caps how much truck residents can park at home. Vehicles up to 12,000 pounds GVWR face no numeric limit if licensed and operable, but only one vehicle heavier than that may park on a residential lot, and only if the lot is at least five acres and the vehicle is used by a resident there. Lake County LDR § 3.06.03 sets the rule.
A.Vehicles with a "Gross Vehicle Weight Rating" (GVWR) of 12,000 lbs., or less.1.Any number of vehicles that are operable and currently licensed and registered.2.Any number of vehicles stored in a completely enclosed building. If stored in a completely enclosed building, vehicles are not required to be operable or currently licensed and registered.3.No more than three (3) operable vehicles that are not currently licensed and registered. ... C.In cases where a lot or parcel is five (5) acres or greater in size, one (1) operable and currently licensed and registered vehicle which exceeds 12,000 lbs. GVWR may be parked on such lot or parcel if it is used by the resident of the lot or parcel. If such vehicle is a trailer, the vehicle which is used to transport such trailer may also be parked on such lot or parcel, even if it exceeds 12,000 lbs. GVWR. Unless permitted by another Section of this Code, no vehicle with a GVWR of 12,000 lbs. or more Shall be parked, stored, or kept on any public street, avenue, alley, or other thoroughfare or any right-of-way therewith, within any of the zoning districts listed in Subsection 3.06.01 above.

Full Breakdown
00 governs vehicle parking in the county's residential-type zoning districts, including A, RA, AR, R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, R-6, R-7, R-10, RP, RMRP, RM and RV. 03(A), any number of operable, currently licensed vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 12,000 pounds or less may be parked outright, and up to three unlicensed but operable vehicles of that weight class are also allowed outdoors; any number can be stored inside a fully enclosed building regardless of condition. Heavier commercial trucks are treated differently.
03(C), a parcel must be five acres or larger before a single licensed vehicle exceeding 12,000 pounds GVWR can be parked there, and only if it is used by a resident of that lot; if the heavy vehicle is a trailer, the truck that tows it may also stay. Outside that five-acre threshold, no vehicle rated at 12,000 pounds or more may sit on a public street, alley, right-of-way, or any lot in the listed districts unless another Code section permits it. 02 resolves disputes over a vehicle's weight class by deferring to the Florida DMV's classification on the certificate of title, or to the manufacturer's GVWR specification.
03(D)), delivery, pickup, or service vehicles calling on a residence (E), utility and government vehicles used for repair work or required to be driven home for emergency response (G, H), and vehicles used in ongoing agricultural work such as citrus harvesting (I). Any vehicle that becomes disabled must be hauled away within twenty-four hours regardless of the cause of the breakdown (F). 00 was rewritten in full by Ordinance No. 2023-67, adopted November 28, 2023.
Violations & Fines
A heavy truck parked past the five-acre/one-vehicle allowance, or any vehicle rated 12,000 pounds or more left on a right-of-way or an undersized lot, is a Land Development Code violation Lake County Code Enforcement can cite and order removed. Disabled vehicles left beyond the 24-hour window under § 3.06.03(F) are cited the same way, with appeal available through the county's Code Enforcement process.
