Henrico bars parking any truck or commercial vehicle over 10,000 pounds gross weight, or any commercial trailer or wrecker, on any street or alley in agricultural or residential zoning districts except while actively loading or unloading.
Section 24-96 of the Zoning Ordinance controls trucks, wreckers, and commercial trailers countywide. It is unlawful to park a truck or commercial vehicle exceeding 10,000 pounds gross weight, or any commercial trailer or wrecker, on any highway, street, or alley in an agricultural or residential district, except while loading and unloading. "Gross weight" is the aggregate weight of the vehicle and the load it is designed to carry as recorded by the DMV. Commercial enclosed or flatbed trailers and wreckers may be parked in a residential district only while loading or unloading, regardless of their empty weight. This keeps semis, box trucks, and work trailers out of neighborhoods.
The Division of Community Maintenance enforces Section 24-96; owners receive a notice to remove the vehicle, and continued violations can bring civil penalties and prosecution.
