Washoe County's Development Code does not set a blanket rule against parking passenger vehicles in a residential driveway, but items left outside more than 72 hours are 'outdoor storage,' and inoperable or unregistered vehicles kept in public view are treated as a nuisance that must be removed or screened. Registered
WCC 110.306.35(a) defines outdoor storage as outside placement of items for more than 72 consecutive hours; junk or inoperable vehicles stored in public view fall under the county nuisance code (WCC 50.300-50.310) and must be removed or screened, though vehicles currently registered with DMV are not treated as junk. Registered recreational vehicles, campers, boats and personal watercraft are exempt (110.306.35(d)(4)). The county does not require paved driveways or ban ordinary passenger-vehicle parking on your own residential lot, but commercial vehicles remain prohibited on residentially zoned parcels.
Inoperable/unregistered vehicles or junk in public view are abated by Community Services code enforcement (775-328-6106): remove or screen from public view.
