Deer Park requires residential vehicles to be parked on improved surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. Parking on grass, dirt, or other unimproved surfaces in front yards is prohibited under property maintenance standards enforced by Community Development.
The City of Deer Park requires all residential vehicle parking to occur on approved improved surfaces. Parking on grass, dirt, gravel, or other unimproved surfaces in front yards is a code violation under the property maintenance ordinance. Driveways must be constructed of concrete, asphalt, or other approved materials and maintained in good repair. New driveway construction or expansion requires a permit from the Building Inspections division. Driveway approaches to the street must meet city engineering standards for width, slope, and drainage. Properties must maintain adequate drainage to prevent stormwater from pooling on the public right-of-way. The maximum driveway width at the curb is regulated to preserve adequate on-street parking and green space. Sight triangles must be maintained at all driveway-street intersections. Contact Community Development at (281) 478-7243 for driveway permits and parking surface requirements.
Parking on unimproved surfaces results in a code violation notice with a compliance period. Repeat violations may result in fines up to $2,000 per offense. The city may abate the nuisance at the owner's expense if violations continue.
