Truckee, CA Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Section 10.14.100, adopted by Ordinance 2015-12, prohibits parking or leaving standing a vehicle in a stall or space designated pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 22511 unless that vehicle is connected for electric charging purposes. The rule sits in Chapter 10.14, Stopping, Standing or Parking Restrictions, whose general authority section, 10.14.010, lets the traffic engineer prohibit, regulate, or limit stopping and parking based on an engineering and traffic survey and requires official signs or markings stating when the restriction applies before it can be enforced. Because Chapter 10.14 carries no stand-alone penalty clause for this section, a violation is enforced through the Town's general infraction penalty in Section 1.02.040(b). The Town Manager separately has authority under Section 10.14.050 to prohibit or restrict parking on Town-owned property, so an EV space in a municipal lot can be posted and enforced the same way, including towing a non-complying vehicle at the owner's expense once the area is conspicuously posted.
