Knox County zoning does not create residential curbside loading zones. Off-street parking and loading for non-residential uses must be provided on-site under the off-street parking requirements. On county roads, the Sheriff enforces obstruction of travel lanes.
Loading zones are a commercial/non-residential concept in Knox County. Section 3.50 requires off-street parking and loading facilities to be provided on the same site (or nearby) for uses that generate them, rather than relying on the public street. The county does not designate curbside loading zones on residential streets in the unincorporated area. Delivery vehicles blocking a county roadway can be enforced as an obstruction by the Knox County Sheriff's Office. Municipalities such as Knoxville designate and enforce their own loading zones downtown and in commercial districts.
Using required off-street parking/loading area for storage or sales is prohibited under zoning; blocking a county travel lane can bring a Sheriff's citation and tow.
