Knox County zoning permits one camping/travel trailer, recreational vehicle, hauling trailer, and/or boat trailer per household on a residential lot, stored behind the front building line and not occupied on site. Max 40 ft long, 10 ft wide.
In residential zones, section 3.52.03 of the Knox County Zoning Ordinance allows one camping or travel trailer, recreational vehicle, hauling trailer, and/or boat trailer per household, provided it does not exceed 40 feet in length or 10 feet in width. These vehicles must be stored behind the front building line (not in the front-yard setback toward the street) and may not be lived in on the site. Storage is only permitted on lots that are actually occupied by a dwelling. Inside Knoxville or Farragut, the city/town rules apply instead.
Zoning violations are enforced by Knox County Codes Administration; owners receive a notice to comply and may appeal to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Continued noncompliance can bring citations.
