City-specific rules exist: Fort Myers, and Cape Coral have their own loading zones rules that differ from Lee County's county-level regulations. If you live in one of those cities, check the city-specific page instead.

No parking space or loading zone required by the parking regulations set forth in this chapter may be used for the display of merchandise or parking of rental vehicles.

Full Breakdown

Division 25 of the zoning code applies off-street loading requirements to commercial, industrial and other nonresidential uses. Section 34-1986 requires an off-street loading area wherever goods move by large semitrailer or full trailer truck; establishments using small panel trucks or vans may use the parking area if deliveries happen outside public hours, no delivery truck stays more than four hours, and movement is not obstructed. Each loading area must be at least ten feet wide and 30 feet deep, set back 20 feet from rights-of-way and ten feet from property under separate ownership. Section 34-1987 sets the number of spaces.

Violations & Fines

Section 34-1352(d)(1) bars using a required loading zone for merchandise display or rental-vehicle parking. On the street, unlawful stopping or standing draws a $32.00 fine under Section 28-102(5).
