Mendocino County does not maintain a general loading-zone color ordinance for unincorporated streets, but the County Code designates specific loading and bus-stop segments in the Town of Mendocino. Loading-zone curb colors otherwise follow the California Vehicle Code.
Unincorporated Mendocino County relies primarily on the California Vehicle Code for loading-zone curb colors. Under CVC Section 21458, a yellow curb means stopping only for loading or unloading passengers or freight (for the time posted), and a white curb means stopping only for loading or unloading passengers or depositing mail. The County Code does not establish a county-wide schedule of yellow/white commercial loading zones; instead, the County designates specific functional segments by location. For example, Mendocino County Code Section 15.12.040 designates a 60-foot bus-stop segment on the south side of Main Street in the Town of Mendocino (CR 407E, milepost 0.300 to 0.311) and a 20-foot segment on Main Street reserved for emergency access and attended vehicle loading (milepost 0.257 to 0.254). The Road Commissioner posts and maintains the signs and markings that designate these areas under Section 15.12.080. Where a curb has not been specifically marked or designated, the general California Vehicle Code parking rules govern, and any locally posted restriction is enforced as an infraction under MCC 15.12.100 (CVC Section 42001(a)).
Parking in a designated bus-stop or attended-loading segment listed in MCC 15.12.040, or stopping in violation of a yellow/white loading curb under CVC 21458, is an infraction enforceable under MCC 15.12.100 and the California Vehicle Code.
