There is no countywide overnight parking ban in Montgomery County. Overnight on-street restrictions are set by your borough or township. In county parks, parking after posted closing time is prohibited without facility permission, and overnight camping is banned except in designated areas.
Overnight parking on public streets is a municipal matter across Montgomery County's 62 municipalities; some, like Cheltenham and Upper Dublin, post overnight or winter parking bans, while others do not restrict it at all. These come from local traffic ordinances under the Vehicle Code, not from the county. The one place the county sets an overnight rule is its own parks and trails: facilities close at posted hours (regional trails are open sunrise to sunset), and parking after closing time is prohibited without permission. A vehicle left too long on a public street can also be treated as abandoned under 75 Pa.C.S. §102 (48-hour presumption).
Municipal overnight-parking violations are ticketed by local police. In county parks, after-hours vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed. Vehicles unattended over 48 hours may be tagged as abandoned under state law.
