The City of Spartanburg bars trucks over three-quarters ton from parking on any city street between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., with a one-hour exception for a driver's meals or personal needs. City parking lots have a 24-hour maximum.
Under City Code § 40-75(b), no truck exceeding three-quarters ton in capacity may park on a city street between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., though the operator may stop up to one hour to eat or attend to personal needs. During daytime hours such trucks may stop only to load or unload. Separately, § 40-185 makes it unlawful to leave any vehicle on a city-maintained parking lot for more than 24 continuous hours. Passenger cars are not subject to a general overnight ban on city streets.
Violations are misdemeanors subject to city fines; vehicles left over the limits may be impounded and towed at the owner's expense.
