There is no blanket overnight on-street parking ban in unincorporated Jefferson County, but parking on the Clear Creek Canyon (US-6) right-of-way is banned longer than 30 minutes between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Using a vehicle as overnight living quarters on public property is prohibited.
The parking ordinance singles out Clear Creek Canyon along U.S. Highway 6: no vehicle may be parked there more than 30 minutes between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., except emergencies. Elsewhere, overnight parking is allowed unless a posted restriction or the 28-day recreational-vehicle limit applies. Camping or sleeping overnight in an RV on public property is not permitted where not otherwise allowed. Some Jeffco Open Space parks and trailheads close overnight and prohibit camping. Incorporated cities may impose their own overnight bans.
Clear Creek Canyon violations are class 2 petty offenses ($25, rising to $35/$50). Vehicles left in violation more than 72 hours after a tag may be impounded.
