Sutter County has no countywide overnight parking ban for unincorporated areas; instead, county code Section 1120-120 limits continuous parking on any county street, roadway, or alley to 120 hours (five days).
Title 1100 of the Sutter County Ordinance Code contains no general curfew or overnight parking prohibition for county roads. The operative limit is Section 1120-120, which makes it unlawful to allow any vehicle to remain standing or parked on a county street, roadway, or alley for more than 120 hours; such vehicles may be removed under Chapter 10 of Division 11 of the California Vehicle Code (CVC Section 22651 et seq.). The Board of Supervisors may impose location-specific parking restrictions, including time-based ones, by resolution under Section 1120-100 (per CVC Section 22507), which are enforceable once signs are posted or curbs are marked. County-owned parking lots may also be restricted by permit or time limit under Section 1120-105, with posted signs required at every entrance and exit. Separately, Chapter 791 prohibits using a vehicle for camping or living accommodation on county rights-of-way and other listed areas.
A vehicle parked beyond 120 hours may be towed and stored at the owner's expense under Vehicle Code removal authority. Violations of posted restrictions carry a $25 civil parking penalty under Section 1120-110, and vehicles violating county-lot restrictions may be cited and removed with the owner liable for removal and storage costs.
