Gloucester County, NJ Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 2(h) of the Gloucester County Parks Rules & Regulations does two things at once: it confines vehicle travel inside a Park Area to "roads designated for vehicle travel, drives or designated parking areas established for such purpose," and it separately bars leaving a vehicle "standing or parked in established parking areas or elsewhere in Park Areas after closing hours." The subsection adds that every motor vehicle on county park land remains "subject to the Motor Vehicle Laws of the State of New Jersey," layering the county's own parking rule on top of state traffic law.

Closing hours are set by Section 3(b): parks stay open to the public "every day of the year during daylight hours except for Christmas and New Year's Day or as otherwise posted," and lighted athletic fields close at whatever time is posted after daylight ends. That posted closing time is the trigger for Section 2(h): a car still in a lot after the gates close, or after the posted time for a lit field, is in violation regardless of whether it was legally parked earlier in the day. Section 2(u) adds a related handicapped-parking rule barring anyone from parking in a designated handicapped space without a state-issued handicapped plate or permit, or parking anywhere not designated for parking at all.

The Gloucester County Administrator or a designee can also close all or part of a park, or restrict it to a special event, "at any time and for any interval of time" under Section 3(c), which effectively shortens the parking window further on short notice. Parks and Recreation Department staff administer these rules under Section 3(e), can order a vehicle's owner to leave under Section 3(f), and a conviction carries fines or imprisonment under Section 3(g), prosecuted in the County of Gloucester's name.
