Washington County, UT Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Washington County Code of Ordinances section 5-4-6 governs vehicle use at the Kolob Reservoir Facility, the county-leased campground and day-use area on Kolob Reservoir. Subsection A prohibits operating or parking a vehicle or trailer anywhere in the facility except in a spot the County has permitted, or in a designated campsite that matches the dates and times printed on a valid permit; the same sentence states flatly that no overnight parking of vehicles or trailers is allowed without a proper permit. The subsection extends the restriction to off-road travel, prohibiting the operation of cars, trucks, machinery, motorcycles, dirt bikes, OHVs, and ATVs off the facility's designated lanes of travel, and it applies the state's rules of the road inside the facility, making any act that would be unlawful on a public highway unlawful there too.

Vehicles or trailers parked or operated in violation of the section face towing and impoundment at the owner's expense, a separate consequence from the misdemeanor penalty in section 5-4-8. Subsection B sets a facility-wide 15 mile per hour speed limit. Together the two subsections mean a camper who wants to leave a vehicle or trailer overnight, whether or not it is occupied, needs a valid Kolob Reservoir permit tied to a specific campsite and date range; parking overnight in a day-use pullout or an undesignated spot, permit or not, falls outside what section 5-4-6(A) allows.
