Union City defines a 'large vehicle' as any vehicle over 6 feet high and 20 feet long, or over 8.5 feet wide, and bans such vehicles from City streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Vehicles over 20 feet or 10,000 pounds are barred from streets except in Council-designated areas.
Under Chapter 10.36, a 'large vehicle' means any vehicle exceeding 6 feet in height and 20 feet in length, or exceeding 8.5 feet in width. No large vehicle may park on any City street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. No large or non-motorized vehicle may park where any portion extends more than 8.5 feet from the curb face or overhangs the right-of-way. Separately, vehicles longer than 20 feet and/or rated 10,000 pounds GVWR or more may not stop, stand or park on any highway, street or alley at any time except in areas the City Council designates by resolution. The Chief of Police may grant narrow exemptions for trip-related loading or hardship (renewable 72-hour blocks, 15-day maximum).
Parking an oversized or large vehicle on a City street in violation of the 2 a.m.-6 a.m. ban, the 8.5-foot curb projection limit, or the over-20-foot/10,000-pound prohibition is a parking infraction subject to citation and towing.
