In unincorporated Collier County, recreational vehicles, boats, and jet skis may be stored only in a rear yard, carport, enclosed building, or on davits/cradles by a waterway. A driveway permit allows up to 48 hours in the front or side yard.
Collier County Code Section 130-96 (part of Ordinance 10-26) governs RV, boat, and trailer storage on residentially zoned property. A recreational vehicle, which the code defines to include boats, jet skis, and their trailers, may not be used for living or sleeping in a residential district. It may be stored only in a rear yard, a completely enclosed building, a carport, or on davits or cradles adjacent to a waterway. A permit from Code Enforcement lets an RV sit on a front- or side-yard driveway for up to 48 hours within any 7-day period, with the permit displayed so it is visible from the street. Inside the cities of Naples, Marco Island, and Everglades City, the city's own rules govern.
Code Enforcement issues a notice to relocate or permit the RV/boat. Unresolved cases go to the Code Enforcement Board with daily fines and property liens until corrected.
