Napa County, CA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Recreational vehicle, camper, boat, and trailer storage in unincorporated Napa County is governed by three overlapping authorities: (1) the County's own zoning and building code provisions, (2) the California Vehicle Code, and (3) State law on RV occupancy. 0230(B) provides that a trailer or mobilehome in dead storage shall not be stored in any required front or side yard setback, and shall not be parked on any public or private street for more than 48 hours. The County's Planning, Building and Environmental Services Good Neighbor Resources page restates the County's enforcement position: RVs, campers, boats, and trailers may be stored on private property on a paved surface only, and should not be parked on the street for long periods; the page cross-references the State Vehicle Code 72-hour rule (CVC §22651(k)).

33200 (Boat and Trailer Storage) requires the developer to provide a screened storage area within the park boundaries (minimum one boat or trailer space for every five mobilehome sites) and forbids storage of boats, trailers, campers, or motor coaches on park streets or on individual mobilehome lots. Recreation Vehicle Parks themselves are a recognized :RVP combining district in the Napa County Zoning Ordinance, and RV & Boat Mini Storage as a commercial use is allowed only with a Use Permit in the General Commercial (GC), Commercial Neighborhood (CN), Marine Commercial (MC), and General Industrial (GI/I) districts, per the County's Summary of Allowable Uses by Zoning District. 5 also authorizes local restrictions on overnight on-street parking and on commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds in residential districts.
