Alameda County, CA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Alameda County Code § 10.04.110 bars stopping, parking, or leaving any vehicle, attended or unattended, in front of a public or private driveway anywhere in the unincorporated county. The only carve-outs are a bus operating as a common carrier, a school bus, or a taxicab, and only while actively loading or unloading passengers. The rule sits in Chapter 10.04, County Highway Traffic Regulations, and applies solely on county highways in unincorporated communities such as Castro Valley and San Lorenzo, it has no bearing on driveways inside Oakland, Berkeley, or any of the county's other thirteen incorporated cities, each of which sets its own parking code.
