On unincorporated county roads, you must park within 12 inches of the right curb (parallel), and cannot stop in intersections, crosswalks, sidewalks, bike lanes, or within 50 feet of an intersection on a county road.
Polk County Code Sec. 10.3-17 lists where you may not stop, stand or park: on sidewalks, within intersections or crosswalks, on bike paths, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within 30 feet of a stop sign or traffic signal, and within 50 feet of an intersection on a county road. Sec. 10.3-18 requires parallel parking with the right wheels within 12 inches of the curb or road edge. A separate mailbox rule (below) also applies on county roads. Incorporated cities set their own on-street parking rules.
Sec. 10.3-21: first offense = warning; second = $100; third = $250; fourth and beyond = $500. Enforced by Code Enforcement and the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
