On most unincorporated Tehama County roads, on-street parking follows the California Vehicle Code. The county has adopted specific no-parking zones on certain named county roads and angle/parallel parking rules for the town of Gerber under County Code Chapter 11.12.
Tehama County does not impose a general county-wide street-parking permit or blanket curb restriction. Everyday on-street parking on county-maintained roads is governed by the California Vehicle Code (CVC Section 22500 and related sections), which prohibits stopping or parking in places such as intersections, crosswalks, on sidewalks, in front of driveways and within designated areas. The county supplements that state law with site-specific rules in Chapter 11.12, 'Parking Regulations on Certain Streets.' Article I designates no-parking segments on named county roads, including parts of Navion Road (CR 792), 99W (CR 708A), Newville Road (CR 59B), Sale Lane (CR 810), Leininger Road (CR 115) and Walnut Street (CR 657). Article II sets parking rules in the towns of Gerber and Los Molinos; for example, Section 11.12.030 designates San Benito Avenue in Gerber as a business district with 45-degree angle parking on the east side and parallel parking within 18 inches of the curb on the west, and Sections 11.12.050-070 require 60-degree diagonal parking on Santa Maria, Vestal and Mariposa Avenues. Under Chapter 11.02, the Director of Public Works installs and maintains the signs and markings that make these limits enforceable.
Parking contrary to a Chapter 11.12 posted no-parking zone or the designated angle, or violating Vehicle Code Section 22500, is a parking infraction; vehicles may be cited and, where authorized, towed.
