Martin County, FL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Sec. 20 of the Martin County Code (Chapter 115, Article 2) makes it unlawful, except to avoid a traffic conflict or comply with a traffic device or officer's direction, to park, stand or stop in a spot posted "no parking, standing, or stopping" by Board of County Commissioners resolution, or in a designated bus or transit loading zone. It separately bars parking or standing in a posted "no parking or standing" zone or in a marked fire lane, except briefly while actively loading or unloading a passenger.

A third tier bars parking in posted "no parking" zones, in spaces marked for specific vehicle types such as emergency vehicles, boat trailers, or government vehicles, or beyond a posted time limit. A violation is a noncriminal traffic infraction. Under Sec. 21, a sheriff's deputy or parking enforcement specialist can hand a ticket to the driver or attach it to an unattended vehicle, using a form approved by the County Attorney. Sec. 22 gives the driver 30 days from the ticket date to pay the fine or file a written hearing request with the clerk of court; paying is deemed an admission of the infraction.

Sec. 23 presumes the registered owner liable unless the owner submits, within ten days of notice, a sworn affidavit naming who else had care, custody or control of the vehicle; a stolen vehicle or one used without the owner's permission is not the owner's responsibility. Sec. 24 lets the clerk mail a notice to a non-paying, non-contesting owner, and failing to comply with that notice can trigger an arrest warrant.
