Camarillo Municipal Code Chapter 9.04 (Integrated Waste Management) regulates trash container placement and storage. Section 9.04.070 governs the use and placement of containers and bulky items on collection days. Bins must be stored out of public view when not set out for collection.
CMC Section 9.04.070 establishes rules for trash, recycling, and green waste container placement. Containers should be placed at the curb the evening before or morning of collection day and must be retrieved by the end of the collection day. Containers must be placed upright with lids closed, not blocking sidewalks, driveways, or mailboxes. Between collection days, containers must be stored out of view from the street, typically in a garage, side yard, or behind a fence. Section 9.04.060 addresses container requirements, and Section 9.04.080 covers timely removal. Bulky items for special pickup must not be placed at the curb more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup. Scavenging through trash containers is prohibited under Section 9.04.090. In Camarillo's HOA communities, CC&Rs often specify exact storage locations for trash bins (typically inside the garage or behind a gate) and may impose fines for visible bins outside of collection hours.
Leaving bins out past collection day or in visible locations may violate CMC 9.04 and HOA CC&Rs. Code enforcement may issue warnings and citations. HOA violations result in fines. Contact the city's waste hauler for pickup questions.
