Ventura requires trash bins to be stored out of public view except on collection days. Bins should be placed at the curb no earlier than the evening before collection and retrieved by the evening of collection day. Bins stored visibly in front yards may trigger code enforcement.
Ventura's property maintenance standards require trash and recycling bins to be stored out of public view when not set out for collection. Bins should not be placed at the curb more than 24 hours before scheduled collection and must be retrieved within 24 hours after collection. Acceptable storage locations include garages, side yards screened from view, and behind fences. Bins left at the curb or visible in front yards beyond the collection window may generate code enforcement complaints. The City contracts with E.J. Harrison & Sons for residential waste collection services. Bins should be placed at the curb with lids closed and not blocking sidewalks.
Persistent failure to store bins properly may result in code enforcement notices and fines. Bins blocking sidewalks or public rights-of-way may be cited separately.
