Paramus requires watertight, covered refuse containers under fifty pounds, placed conveniently for pickup and set out no earlier than the evening before collection.
Under Chapter 379, garbage and ashes must be drained free of water and stored in watertight, covered containers that do not exceed fifty pounds when filled and are not filled higher than three inches below the top. Containers must be placed at the side or rear of the residence, school, or church and remain accessible to DPW personnel. No containers or bundles of garden refuse, vegetative waste, or trash may be set out earlier than 6:00 p.m. the evening before collection day. Dumpsters must be covered and prevented from leaking into Borough storm sewers.
Overweight bins, uncovered containers, leaking dumpsters, or putting trash out before the evening before pickup can result in summonses and per-day fines.
