Chapter 21, Article XI of the Tallahassee Code of Ordinances (Ord. 11-O-02AA) governs solid waste container placement and storage. Carts must be curbside by 6:30 AM on collection day and may not be placed out earlier than the day before scheduled service. After collection, carts must be returned to a storage area near the home no later than the following day. Carts must be spaced at least 3 feet from obstacles and other containers, handles facing away from the street. Commercial and multifamily trash enclosures exceeding one cubic yard capacity must be set back at least 10 feet from any property line and screened on three sides with a 6-foot opaque masonry or wood wall.
