Under Yorba Linda Municipal Code Chapter 8.20, solid waste carts at single-family homes must be stored out of public view in a side yard, rear yard, or garage, except on collection day. Leaving carts visible from the street on non-collection days is a property maintenance violation.
YLMC 8.20.050(G) requires all containers used for solid waste collection at single-family dwellings to be stored out of public view in a side or rear yard or enclosed area such as a garage, except on the designated collection day. If fencing or design cannot obscure the carts, they must be stored adjacent to the dwelling at the point farthest from the nearest street. Carts may not be placed at the curb before 4:00 p.m. the evening before collection and must be removed by 8:00 p.m. on collection day (8.20.050(C)). Lids must stay closed whenever unattended. Violations are enforced by Community Preservation and can be cited as infractions.
Carts left visible from the street on non-collection days, out early, or left out late are code violations. Community Preservation issues notices; continued Chapter 8.20 violations carry infraction fines up to $100, $200, and $500 for repeat offenses.
