Yorba Linda Municipal Code Chapter 8.32 sets residential exterior limits of 55 dB(A) daytime (7 a.m.-10 p.m.) and 50 dB(A) nighttime (10 p.m.-7 a.m.). Interior limits also apply overnight, and violations are misdemeanors.
All residential property in the City is placed in Noise Zone I under YLMC Section 8.32.050. Section 8.32.060 sets the exterior standard at 55 dB(A) from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 50 dB(A) from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., measured on the affected residential property. The limit is exceeded if the level runs over the standard for more than 30 minutes in any hour, over the standard plus 5 dB(A) for more than 15 minutes, plus 10 dB(A) for more than 5 minutes, plus 15 dB(A) for more than 1 minute, or plus 20 dB(A) for any period. Each limit drops 5 dB(A) for impact, simple-tone, speech, or music noise. Section 8.32.070 adds interior limits for the 10 p.m.
