Coweta County, GA Property Maintenance: Vacant Lot Maintenance (2026)

In the largely rural unincorporated county there is no adopted grass-height numeric limit for private lots as suburban cities use; instead the code targets waste and dumping. Section 62-16 bars open dumping on a person's property and unsightly or hazardous accumulations of garbage. Owners get a notice-and-cure path: once written notice is given that litter or solid waste has been dumped, an owner who fails within 15 days to give written assurance it will be cleaned up within 30 days is presumed in violation. Illegal dumping is also a state crime under O.C.G.A. § 16-7-51, and Georgia nuisance law, O.C.G.A. § 41-2-5, adds abatement authority.
