The DHCA inspects vacant lots upon complaint and during proactive sweeps in areas with high vacancy rates. After a notice of violation, owners typically have 14 days to bring the lot into compliance. If the owner fails to act, the county may hire contractors to mow, clear debris, or secure the property and place a lien on the property for the costs incurred plus an administrative fee.
