Summary

In Clark County's unincorporated area, including the Las Vegas Strip's resort corridor, short-term rental units may not host parties, and outdoor noise from pools, spas or firepits is banned between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

City-specific rules exist: North Las Vegas, and Las Vegas have their own loud party ordinance rules that differ from Clark County's county-level regulations. If you live in one of those cities, check the city-specific page instead.

(b)Any party, as defined in Section 7.100.020(n), is prohibited in a short-term rental unit. The prohibition on parties in this section, however, does not apply to private guests of the owner in owner-occupied residential units unrelated to any short-term rental unit booking.(c)Noise Standards. The noise standards established in Title 30.68.020 of this code shall be applied to all short-term rental units and furthermore:(1)The use of any radio receiver, stereo, musical instrument, sound amplifier or similar device which produces, reproduces or amplifies sound shall be permitted only within an enclosed short-term rental unit;(2)During the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., the use of outdoor amenities, such as pools, spas, barbecues, and firepits, is prohibited.

Full Breakdown

Clark County Code Section 7.100.180(b) prohibits any party, defined at Section 7.100.020(n) as a gathering exceeding the unit's licensed maximum occupancy, inside a licensed short-term rental unit; private guests of an owner-occupied home are exempt. Subsection (c)(2) separately bars outdoor amenities such as pools, spas, barbecues and firepits from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. regardless of party size. Because the Strip's resorts sit in unincorporated Paradise and Winchester townships, this county ordinance, not a Las Vegas city rule, governs short-term rentals there. Violations draw a 500 dollar fine for a first offense and 1,000 dollars for each later one, and can trigger license suspension.

Violations & Fines

First violation draws a 500 dollar citation; each later one costs 1,000 dollars or the nightly rental value, whichever is greater. Owners are liable even if a tenant hosted the party.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this ban apply to a normal house party?
No. The party ban only covers licensed short-term rental units; private guests at an owner-occupied home unrelated to a rental booking are exempt under Section 7.100.180(b).
Who is liable if a renter throws a party?
Yes. Even if a renter or guest hosts the party, the property owner remains liable for the citation under Section 7.100.230(e)(2), alongside any local representative or tenant.
